(CMR) McKeeva Bush was reportedly arrested and charged this morning with Rape and Indecent Assault in relation to an assault that occurred over 20 years ago. This arrest comes as Bush is before the court for another offense.
Last year, it was revealed that the police were investigating Bush over allegations of sexual assault dating back over two decades ago. CMR was informed this morning that he has been arrested in relation to the matter.
The RCIPS has since confirmed that a senior politician attended the Cayman Islands Detention Centre this morning, Wednesday, 28 June, and was arrested and formally charged with Rape and Indecent Assault, in relation to a criminal complaint of a sexual nature dating back to 2000. He appeared in Court this morning via Zoom.
The West Bay West MP was charged earlier this year with two offenses relating to an incident that took place at a Caribbean Tourism Organization reception (CTO) dinner held at the Ritz Carlton in September. He pleaded not guilty and is expected to stand trial later this year.
The newly appointed member of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee, who has had several legal battles over the last few years, indicated his intention to leave politics. Bush said he does not intend to run in the next general election.
