(CMR) Former Speaker and Member of Parliament for West Bay West McKeeva Bush is being investigated over allegations of sexual assault dating back over two decades ago.
The RCIPS confirmed that they received a complaint of an alleged sexual assault that took place in 2000. The police said they have advised Mr. Bush that a criminal investigation has commenced. However, they said they were unable to make any further comments on the matter at this time.
The allegation comes weeks after Mr. Bush resigned as Speaker after two women said he assaulted them during a regional event held here in the Cayman Islands. A file is expected to be sent to the DPP to determine if he will be charged in relation to the incident.
CMR has reached out to Mr. Bush for a comment on this matter, but there was no response at press time. However, exclusive CMR sources indicated that the alleged victim may have political connections.
