(CMR) The police have confirmed that former house speaker and West Bay West MP, McKeeva Bush has been charged with two offenses relating to an incident that took place at a Caribbean Tourism Organization reception (CTO) dinner held at the Ritz Carlton in September.
Bush appeared in Summary Court before Chief Magistrate Valdis Foldats Tuesday morning from the police custody lockup via video link. Attorney Dennis Brady was with him.
In the release, they shared that The RCIPS can confirm that a senior politician has been arrested this morning and formally charged with two counts each of Indecent Assault and Common Assault (in the alternative) in relation to an incident occurring at a formal event at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on 13 September 2022.
Bush initially denied the allegations made against him and was refusing to step down as House Speaker. However, Premier Wayne Panton was able to eventually secure his resignation months later.
