(CMR) Police are investigating after an armed man reportedly stole the cash register from Captain's Bakery restaurant on West Bay Road in George Town and made off from the location on a bicycle Wednesday afternoon.
Reports from the RCIPS are that just before 4:30 p.m., police were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a robbery incident that had taken place at a restaurant of West Bay Road in George Town.
It was reported that a man entered the establishment and went directly to the restroom. After emerging, he approached the cashier and pointed what appeared to be a silver handgun at the employee. The employee ran away from the man, who then jumped over the counter and stole the cash register with a quantity of cash inside. The man then made off from the location on a bicycle.
The man was said to have been tall, slim built, with a dark complexion, and was wearing a white tank top and blue shorts, and had his head wrapped in a mask.
