(CMR) Embattled Member of Parliament for West Bay West McKeeva Bush was appointed to Parliament's Public Account Committee following a Government motion during a special sitting of Parliament on Friday, 21 April.
Mr. Bush, who is currently facing charges of assault before the court, will replace the Member of Parliament for Bodden Town East and Minister of Border Control and Labour Dwayne Seymour, who resigned from the Committee on April 18, 2023.
Mr. Bush resigned as Speaker of the House last year after he was accused of inappropriate behavior at an event here in Grand Cayman. When he appeared in court recently, he pleaded not guilty to two counts of indecent assault against two women at the Ritz Carlton on September 13, 2022.
The PAC has five members and is chaired by Opposition Leader Roy McTaggart. Other members of the committee include Barbara Connolly, Joey Hew, Isaac Rankine, and Heather Bodden.

Meantime, Isaac Rankine, the Member of Parliament for East End, was voted the Deputy Speaker of the House of Parliament during the special sitting on Friday. Mr. Rankine received 11 votes, while Barbara Connolly received 4 votes.
“I want to let my colleagues know that I am very gracious and humbled by their support to be elected to the post of deputy speaker, and while it does come with a title of ‘Honorable', I will still;l be the same person, working just as hard in the post of deputy speaker as the post of Parliament Secretary,” Mr. Rankine said after he was elected.
