(CMR) Thirty-one children from 345 FC's Development Center and Junior Academy were recently given the chance to visit Chelsea FC's home in England and to train at Chelsea's Cobham training facility.
The football club said this all-around learning trip was intended to give the children an insight into what it takes to become professionals.
Andy Ottley, Chelsea FC u14 Academy Head coach, took time to coach the players as well as to spend time with the families sharing the pathway for boys and girls in the Chelsea academy, the commitment it takes to become a professional and detailed the all-round behaviors and mentality that are considered when selecting players to join the Chelsea academy.
The children rounded off their training program inside Chelsea’s indoor training field, sharing the pitch with the Chelsea U23 players as they conducted their pre-training activation.
After all the training was finished, the 345 FC players and parents got the chance to watch the Chelsea u12 academy team training. This was a fantastic opportunity for all to see the intensity, speed of play, and skill level of the academy players
According to 345 FC, an important part of their visit to Chelsea FC was providing a challenging match program. The matches provided the children with new experiences playing teams with different styles of play that pushed players outside of their comfort zones.
The games also gave the children a perspective of the high intensity, effort, and skill level of children who play in England—this is useful for them as they return to training in Cayman and will allow them to push themselves to improve, 345 FC stated.
