(CMR) Caymanian Jordan Crooks is now the fastest swimmer in the 200-yard freestyle in Central America and the Caribbean after winning the event with a time of 1:30:41 at the 2024 NCAA Division I Championships at IUPUI Natatorium, Indianapolis, Indiana, over the weekend.
Crooks also now holds the University of Tennessee record for distance. He is also the school's best ever in the 50—and 100-yard freestyle events and the 100-yard butterfly.
Crooks is the Cayman Islands this swimmer to dominate the 200 yard freestyle at the NCAA Division I Championships, joining the Fraser siblings who won the event in the past.
In 2009, Shaune won the 2009 crown at the University of Florida with a regional standard-setting time of 1:31.70. His brother Brett took the 2011 crown with a time of 1:32.21. Again, the Cayman Islands have the fastest swimmer in the region, thanks to Crooks.
