(CMR) A team of 61 athletes will make up the Cayman Islands Junior National Team who will be competing at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships in Bahamas March 28-3 April 2024.
Also, the Artistic Swimming team will not only be competing but co-hosting with Coral Springs Aquacades this year in Florida.
The roster consists of a dedicated team for each discipline, with some athletes competing in multiple disciplines.
SW – Competitive Swimming, 35 Athletes
AS – Artistic Swimming, 23 Athletes
OW – Open Water Swimming, 9 Athletes
The public can support these athletes by purchasing raffle tickets, which will be on sale over the next few weeks at various supermarkets and at Fitness Connection.
This year, Cayman will compete against 24 other Caribbean Nations in the Bahamas, and Artistic will compete against Jamaica, Aruba, Martinique, Ecuador, Canada, and the USA in Florida.
CARIFTA is the biggest age-group swim meet in the Caribbean, and a foundation meet for Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association to develop young athletes and prepare them to represent the Cayman Islands at senior international meets. Over the years, Cayman has performed exceptionally well at these events.
