(CMR) The Cayman Islands athletes have continued their superb performance at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago, winning two gold medals, increasing the country’s medal count to 5.
Caymanian Andrew Stone shattered the Commonwealth Youth Games long jump record and won gold with a jump of 7.70 meters on Tuesday.
The first gold medal came from Jillian Crooks, Monday evening, in the 100-meter freestyle with a national record time 55.18 seconds, .14 seconds faster than her time from the 2023 World Aquatics Championships. Crooks’ victory comes after her bronze medal finish in the 100-meter backstroke on Sunday. She also won bronze in the 50-meter backstroke.
The seventh Commonwealth Youth Games is taking place in Trinidad and Tobago between 4-11 August 2023.
