(CMR) A man is in hospital in critical condition, while two women have been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a serious collision on Seaview Road early Friday morning, 23 February. CMR understands that the two women have been arrested because no one has admitted to being the driver of the vehicle.
The man who is seriously injured was reportedly removed from the front passenger seat of the vehicle, while both women claimed they were in the back of the car, a CMR source has revealed.
Reports from the RCIPS are that around 12:45. a.m, police and other emergency services responded to a report of a collision on Seaview Road, east of Health City, East End.
Initial investigations indicate a Honda Fit was traveling west on Seaview Road when it left the roadway and collided with a light pole on the opposite side of the road.
Three persons, one male and two females, were extracted from the vehicle and taken to George Town Hospital for treatment. The man sustained critical injuries and is currently in stable critical condition. One of the women sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital. The other woman was treated and discharged. The two women have been arrested on suspicion of DUI.
CMR sources have revealed that the man is a Jamaican while one of the women is a Nicaraguan who works at a bar in East End.
The incident required a full road closure to allow investigations to be conducted. The roadway has since been reopened.
