(CMR) Police have arrested the driver of a car that hit two road workers long Linford Pierson Highway on Tuesday, 26 March, resulting in both men being hospitalized, one in critical condition.
The RCIPS said shortly after 3 p.m., police and emergency services responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Linford Pierson Highway.
Initial investigations indicate that the incident occurred when the driver, who was traveling in the westerly direction, on reaching the round-a-about, lost control of the vehicle, which left the road and collided with a pole, also striking two men who were working in the area. The vehicle came to rest on the eastbound lane.
CMR sources said the car was racing with another vehicle before the crash.
The two men were transported to the hospital to receive treatment for their injuries. One man is in a stable condition, the other is in critical condition.
The driver, a 35-year-old man from George Town, was arrested for dangerous driving offenses. A breath test was conducted, and the result was negative.
