UPDATE: The police said the woman who was killed in this morning's crash has been identified as 30-year-old Dulce Elizabeth Rodriguez Rojas from Mexico who was living and working in Cayman Brac.
(CMR) Police have confirmed that a woman died in a single-vehicle collision early this morning, 20 March, in Cayman Brac.
Reports from the RCIPS are that at around 7:15 a.m., police and other emergency services responded to a report of the crash. Initial investigations indicate a single-vehicle collision occurred in the early hours of the morning, which resulted in the death of a female occupant.
Following initial investigations, the collision is believed to have taken place sometime between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m, and was a single-vehicle collision with one female occupant who was pronounced deceased at the scene by an attending medical practitioner. The occupant was a 30-year-old woman from Mexico who was living and working in Cayman Brac. Her next of kin in Mexico have now been informed of the incident and are being assisted by the police.
The RCIPS expresses its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
The incident occurred on South Side Road, West of Bluff Road in the vicinity of Beach Club. This section of road was closed while police complete analysis of the scene and has since been cleared with the assistance of the Cayman Islands Fire Service and re-opened to the public.
