(CMR) Parliamentary Secretary McKeeva Bush is expected to stand trial for charges of rape and indecent assault next year after previous trial dates were put off due to concerns over lack of funding and insufficient disclosure of evidence.
Bush, the Member of Parliament for West Bay West, is charged with rape and indecent assault in relation to a decades-old case. He is also charged with indecent assault in relation to an incident that took place at incident that took place at a Caribbean Tourism Organization reception (CTO) dinner held at the Ritz Carlton last year.
When he appeared in court on the rape charge earlier this year, the former Speaker of Parliament pleaded not guilty, and a trial date was set for 6 November. He was expected to be tried in the other matter in September, but it was postponed to November. The trial was moved to December but has again been put off until next year.
He is now expected to stand trial on 16 February 2024 for the assault charges and on 24 June for the rape matter.
