(CMR) The Cayman Motoring Federation (CMF) has given Jon-Mikol Rankin, a young Caymanian athlete, the opportunity to attend a program at the headquarters of the FIA ( Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile), the governing body for world motorsport.
As an FIA-approved affiliate, the CMF has access to incredible opportunities for motoring enthusiasts, including programs such as the FIA Immersion 2023.
The FIA Immersion program is a 10-day trip offered to select Club members and provides an opportunity to visit the FIA Headquarters, learn from FIA teams, and bring this experience back to the Cayman Islands and the motoring community.
The Immersion program group of worldwide club members will travel to the FIA Geneva Headquarters to gather insights from various FIA teams and the Sports and People and Cultural Departments to ultimately learn about opportunities for the creation of a custom development plan for the CMF. The agenda has a focus on sports, social responsibility, program management, and a special focus on the environment.
Rankin, the Secretary of Bikes for the Cayman Motoring Federation, was selected to participate in the Immersion 2023 program by the Federation and FIA. Rankin is an avid motorcycle racing athlete in the Cayman Islands and has been involved with the Cayman Motoring Federation as a committee member.
He noted, “I am thrilled to be involved with the FIA Immersion program. My appreciation toward the CMF is very extensive as being the selected recipient of this great opportunity. Representing the Cayman Islands internationally has always been a joy and I intend to share information on our 3 islands with excellence on my visit to France/Europe.”
“I want to give a special shout-out to Ms. Jane Scaletta for helping me along this road to Immersion. This is truly a momentous occasion for me to display my enthusiasm about Motorsports with the intention to learn as much as possible to build greater knowledge for the purpose of passing it on to the youths and people of our Islands,” he added.
Rankin said seeing past photos from the previous teams who participated in the Immersion from all over the world, he is intrigued to see the diversity and cohesion in this program.
“I am looking forward to building lifelong relationships that will help aid the impact of our reach in our community through solidifying a first-class network of Motorsport enthusiasts. Lastly, I have to express a huge thank you to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as well as family and friends whom without I would not be here today,” he continued.
The Vice President of Cayman Motoring Federation, Jason Butcher, said “I am immensely proud of Jon-Mikol Rankin, our ambassador, as he embarks on this incredible journey to represent the Cayman Motoring Federation in the ‘Immersion experience' with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Jon-Mikol's dedication and passion for motorsport have always shone brightly within our organization. As he takes on this new challenge, I have no doubt that he will excel, showcasing not only his skills but also the spirit and talent that CMF stands for. We wish him the best of luck and look forward to witnessing the heights he will undoubtedly reach in this immersive experience.”
“This is a historic moment in the life of motoring in the Cayman Islands, and we are proud that the Cayman Motoring Federation is able to give a Caymanian, Mr. Rankin, this opportunity,” President Jane Scaletta also noted
This experience offered to Rankin through the CMF and FIA will undoubtedly provide the Federation with further insight and the opportunity for Rankin to expand his FIA knowledge that can be shared with the Federation.
