(CMR) A local man died at the Holiday Inn quarantine facility on West Bay Road Sunday morning shortly before he was to be released from the facility. Reports are that his wife was unable to reach him and phoned a friend also staying at the facility.
This prompted the authorities to go to the facility for a welfare check where he was found unresponsive. CMR sources indicate he was returning from the United States after undergoing his annual checkup.
Ironically, he posted on his social media page yesterday photos of birds on his patio and noted that they were “having a farewell party” together.
Eyewitnesses contacted CMR shortly before 11:00 a.m. to inform us that the ambulance as well as multiple police cars were on location at the quarantine facility.
He works for the national airline, Cayman Airways, and people were already posting their condolences by early this afternoon.
The police are investigating the death but no foul play is suspected.
