UPDATE: A third man (21) from West Bay was arrested on Saturday, 9 March, in relation to the shooting at the Ed Bush Field on 25 February. He has been bailed with conditions pending further investigation.
(CMR) The two men, ages 24 and 30 of West Bay, who were arrested in relation to the shooting at the Ed Bush Field on Sunday, 25 February, have been released on bail, pending further investigation.
“We appreciate the public’s concern regarding the granting of bail to persons suspected of being involved in such a serious crime, even with restrictions such as electronic monitoring. But we ask for patience as we continue the investigative process, and as we follow a number of leads. We reaffirm our commitment to bringing those responsible to justice while ensuring the safety of everyone in our community,” said Commissioner of Police Kurt Walton.
Police continue to encourage anyone with information on the incident to call 9-1-1 or the RCIPS Major Incident Room at 649-2930.
Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via their Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or via their website.
Persons can also attend their nearest police station or speak directly with a trusted officer.
Additionally, Cayman Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the arrest, charge or conviction of individuals responsible for this incident. The Cayman Islands Government have also decided to support this reward with an additional $200,000 toward solving the crime.
