(CMR) Several contractors have complained about not being paid by the National Housing Development Trust (NHDT) for work done on the homes constructed under the West Bay Light House Gardens Project (Phase 3).
The contractors said they have been owed for months with continuous promises that they will be paid by a certain date; however, the date is repeatedly pushed back.
Nineteen families were expected to move into their new homes before Christmas 2023; however, CMR understands that due to contractors not being paid, work has not been completed.
A number of homeowners have also reached out to CMR to express frustration that they have given up their leases with the expectation to move into the houses since December; however, they were told they would have to move into the new homes in January. However, with it now being February, they are seeking answers.
Some people said they have bought furniture, given up their apartments and were ready to move into their new home and are now forced to make other arrangments.
Efforts to reach the NHDT to get a response have so far been futile.
