(CMR) Police are also investigating an incident of attempted robbery which occurred over the weekend; a man on a bicycle tried to rob two others who resisted, resulting in a struggle.
Reports are that at about 12:50 am on Sunday, 25 June, officers on patrol on North Church Street, in the vicinity of Kirk Market, observed what appeared to be an altercation between three men on the roadside. As officers approached, one of the men assaulted another and then fled the location on a bicycle.
Officers exited the patrol vehicle and spoke to the two other men, who informed the officers that they had been at the location when the third man approached and attempted to rob them. However, they resisted, and a struggle ensued. The third man did not appear to have been carrying any weapons; however, one of the other men received minor injuries during the struggle.
The suspect is described as being about 6’ tall, of slim build and light complexion, and was wearing a grey t-shirt and black shorts.
The matter is under investigation, and anyone with any information or who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident is asked to contact George Town CID at 949-4222.
