(CMR) The Cayman Islands was second on the medal table with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals behind Guyana, with two gold and a bronze medal on the penultimate day of the Senior Caribbean Squash Championships.
The one-week tournament is being held from 21-27 August in Kingston, Jamaica.
Barbados was third with two medals, one silver and one Bronze. Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica were tied in fourth place with two bronze medals each.
The Cayman Islands won two games on Thursday, one in the veterans' competition and the other in the teams of five competition. They were expected to play Trinidad today.
In the veterans' contests, the Cayman Islands team of Keith Higgins, Lori-Ann Foley, Jodi Jervis, Marlene West, and Nick Buckley defeated Trinidad and Tobago 3-2.
Thursday night, Jamaica was trailing the Cayman Islands 3-0 in the five-team contest. Cayman's Emma Turnbull defeated Jamaica's Savannah Thompson 12-10, 11-6, 4-11, 9-11, 6-1 before Michaela Rensburg beat Melissa Lue Yen 11-9, 11-6, 11-2. Jamaica's Mia Todd went down 8-11, 4-11, 5-11 to Cayman's Jade Pitcairn.
