“We are not looking for any other people. We believe, pretty conclusively, that Armando Caballero is responsible for this crime and there’s not any other person or persons that we are looking for in this case”
Orange County Sheriff John Mina
(CMR) A body believed to be that of the missing 19-year-old Florida teen, Miya Marcano, was found in a wooded area around 10:45 am on Saturday morning. The devasting news was shared by Orange Country Sheriff John Mina earlier on Saturday afternoon after delivering the devastating news with her family. Marco went missing last Friday evening after leaving work at 5:00 pm.
They noted that cell phone records placed Armando Manuel Caballero, the person of interest in her disappearance in the area where her body was found. The cell phone data came into the sheriff's department on Wednesday. He was at that location around 8:00 – 9:00 pm on the evening of her disappearance.
Members of the emergency response team who were conducting walk-throughs found the body in the vicinity of the Tymber Skan Condominiums off South Texas Avenue. He had lived at that complex at one time. A purse with her identification was found near the body but the medical examiner's office will do the official verification of the remains.
The sheriff's office had requested six month's worth of cell phone data.
The Sheriff's office shared that he had been all over several county's that evening in perhaps an attempt to throw the police off his trail with confusing cell phone data. At least two cell phones and keys are still being searched for connected with this case, Mina said.
“That data put him all over: Orange County, Seminole County, Volusia County … Again, the reason we were so intense and focused on the New Smyrna Beach area was because he spent the longest amount of time there. He was there for an hour in a marshy wooded area,” he said.
Over 60 detectives worked exclusively on the case. The FBI had got involved in the search on Thursday to allow access to the federal agency's technology to better search for clues in her disappearance.
