(CMR) A 14-year-old high school student is in custody after fatally stabbing a 15-year-old schoolmate in St James, Jamaica, on Thursday, 18 April.
Daniel Plummer (15), a student of Irwin High School in Granville, died while being treated at a hospital.
Police told Jamaica Gleaner that Plummer was approached and attacked by a group of students after exiting the grounds of the secondary institution. During the assault, Plummer was stabbed in the chest by the 14-year-old male student. It is alleged that the assault stemmed from an earlier altercation.
The boy was then transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital by a taxi operator, in the company of two female students, where he died while receiving treatment.
The accused boy was taken into the nearby Meadows of Irwin Police Post on Friday afternoon by his parent.
