(CMR) A single-vehicle crash caused down power lines and power outages in West Bay district this evening and has the National Roads Authority warning drivers to stay off the roads.
Around 6:30 p.m. a female drive collided with light poles causing utility pole damage on North West Point Road close to Wesleyan church – near Rennie Ebanks Rd. As a result, the road was partially blocked off to protect motorists from the live lines.
The female driver was seriously injured but is said to have non-life threatening injuries. She has been admitted to surgery. The accident caused power outages in the area.
The inclement weather also caused the National Road Authority (NRA) to issue a warning that motorists should exercise caution and remain off the roads if possible. The downpour in the last twenty-four hours had caused flooding, especially in low lying areas.
“Drive with caution and watch for potholes and water ponding on the roads,”
NRA’s Brian Chin Yee said in a statement.
