(CMR) 19-year-old Aaron Reynaldo Montemayor breached two separate quarantine facilities in less than one week government has confirmed. He made news earlier this morning after CMR exclusively reported that he had escaped from his home in Prospect Friday evening.
The revelation came after he breached a government facility and went missing for the first time on Monday. Astute neighbors noticed that his house on Marina Drive shortly after that was under the watchful eye of security guards from the Security Centre. They were observed stationed in front of the property on Wednesday by CMR.
CMR checked through independent sources that the matter related to the “quarantine person escape” incident confirming our suspicions that the two were related. Our sources shared that he left the government facility using a window and bedsheets.
After this morning's publication government confirmed this afternoon that “A traveller who had previously breached a government-sponsored quarantine facility committed a second breach again last night, Friday 11th December. The breach was for a brief period and the traveller has since been returned to the quarantine at residence.”
Now they have “stepped up” the surveillance at the property. They also claimed that”
“Due to unique circumstances the Medical Officer of Health permitted the individual to complete the mandatory isolation period at home with family, under 24-hour security. Surveillance has now been further stepped up and the traveller is being supported at the property.”
Public Health confirmed that contact tracing has been completed and would like to reassure the public that there is no cause for public health concern.
The Royal Cayman Island Police Service (RCIPS) noted that this is an ongoing investigation and a completed file will be sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for a decision. It appears that his first breach did not warrant such a response.
In another interesting twist, his 10-year-old sister who traveled with him back from the United States where he recently graduated from school posted on her Tic Tok account that she was looking for her brother who escaped out of a second-story window again. The timestamp of that video was some 23-hours ago which means that he was missing in the early evening hours on Friday.
Independent reports are that his mother discovered him missing and notified the authorities. It remains unclear why a stationed security guard would not have seen him leave the premises.
His mother had posted on her Facebook page earlier in the week that she was making his food for his quarantine stay. These posts appear to be before he breached the government facility.
His mother is a senior human resource manager in government.
