(CMR) A local group focused on preserving Barkers in West Bay has taken to social media to name and shame people who appear to be using the site as their personal dumping ground for trash and other debris. They have also emailed CMR asking that she be named Jackass of the Day for the atrocious infringements on the environment.
A fresh haul was discovered in a pile that included multiple shipping boxes and receipts for Jessica Lopez. One observer noted that:
“Jessica Lopez seems to think Barkers is her personal Mount Trashmore.”
The Facebook page shared that “Barkers has been a place where families gathered on the beach for outings for many generations. Their quality time was spent with family without interruption of commercial activity. There are still so many varieties of plants still growing there and the ponds that are home to the different species of wildlife. Taking nature walks in Barkers without the loud noise of vehicles zooming by is so relaxing. Let’s just leave this one piece of natural beauty as it is. Please take a walk into Barkers, capture its natural beauty and feel free to post your pictures.”
