(CMR) Almost exactly one year to the date that Dr. Vary Jones-Lesie (62) lost her life at Owen Roberts Airport the taxi driver has pleaded guilty to the charges against him.
Roy Clivey Tamassa (70) decided to forgo a trial and instead accepted responsibility for the death which occurred on July 17, 2017. The visiting HSA physician was hit while crossing the road at the airport shortly after arriving on the island. He was immediately arrested in the aftermath of the incident and then charged in January 2018.
With this change of plea, the courts have granted bail pending a social inquiry report and scheduled the next hearing for September.
