UPDATE: Police have confirmed that Kevin Smith and a police officer injured in this morning's crash have succumbed to their injuries.
(CMR) Pastor of the Pathway International Restoration Kingdom Ministries Jamaica Kevin Smith, who was arrested last week for suspected cult practices after two persons were killed at his church, was involved in a terrible vehicular crash Monday morning.
Reports coming out of Jamaica are that the pastor and a police officer were injured after a police vehicle he was being transported in crashed in St Catherine. He was taken to the Linstead Public Hospital and transported to Kingston Public Hospital.
Several reports circulated on Facebook that Smith, who was to be charged today, has died. However, this has not been confirmed by the police. Other reports are that both the pastor and injured officer are in critical condition.
Smith, along with several church members, was arrested after police went to the church last week after being informed of human sacrifices being done at the location. The bodies of a man and woman were found at the location with their throats slashed.
Smith was being transported to Kingston for questioning when the accident happened.
