(CMR) A Jamaican blogger was gunned down hours after he spoke out about the rampant killings happening in Jamaica. Leon ‘Leegates' McNeil was murdered in Hayes, Clarendon, Saturday night, just hours after he reportedly commented on a double murder in a neighboring community.
McNeil (36), the founder of Leegates TV and Entertainment, was at a party when a group of men opened fire at him. McNeil and another man were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, where he was pronounced dead, and the other man admitted.
Just hours before in a Facebook live video, McNeil lamented the high murder rate in Jamaica. He described the number of shootings as heart-wrenching and heartbreaking.
He went on to question the reason for all the killings, adding that no one feared God anymore. The blogger also asked people to be careful and vigilant in light of the shootings.
McNeil said love was lacking among people and that small disagreements that can be resolved by talking were leading to murder.
Several of McNeil's followers on Facebook expressed shock at his murder.
“It's sad that you spoke about the same crime and violence, and then within hours they took your life too,” one person wrote.
