(CMR) 77-year-old Margaret Rose Garcia died this morning after the vehicle she was traveling in crashed into an almond tree in South Sound off Memorial Avenue. She was said to be traveling from her daughter's wedding along with her husband and the groom's parents in the vehicle.
They were traveling back to the hotel where Mrs. Margaret Rose's vehicle was parked for her to collect that and return home.
The visiting groom's parents remain in the hospital in stable condition, while Mr. Morris Garcia was discharged with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Police reports are that just after 12:25 am, police and other emergency services were dispatched to South Church Street in George Town, where it was reported that there was a single vehicle collision involving a white Kia Sportage SUV.
The vehicle, which had four occupants, collided with a tree. The ambulance arrived and transported all four persons to the hospital. The 77-year-old-woman of Bodden Town was later pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
Mr. and Mrs. Garcia reside in Lower Valley, with the victim originally being from East End. She is survived by her husband, son and daughter. She was a teacher and education officer for many years.
