(CMR) Five-time CARIFTA games medalist Lacee Barnes set a new Cayman Islands shot put national record at a US athletic championship on Friday.
The University of Texas San Antonio student threw 14.70 meters at the H-Town SpeedCity Series II at the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse.
This performance saw her bettering her previous personal-best of 14.51m posted in the facility at last year's FasTrak Collegiate Invitational.
Barnes' outstanding performance was the highlight action in the field for the Roadrunners on Friday, UTSA said on its website.
Barnes, who collected the bronze medal, registered the PR measurement on her fourth attempt, which moved her into the number 3 spot on UTSA's all-time performers' list.
