(CMR) The operations of Caribbean Airlines Limited continue to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Tuesday, the airline announced that all flights to Havana, Cuba, have been canceled with immediate effect until further notice.
The airline said that the decision to cancel flights came after the Instituto de Aeronáutica Civil de Cuba (IACC) announced the country’s latest protocols and restrictions regarding inbound commercial flights to combat COVID-19.
Cuba currently requires travelers to pay a sanitary fee of $36.25, which includes a $6.25 processing fee. Tickets booked after December 1, 2020, should have this included in the price.
Inbound travelers will also need to produce proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of arrival. PCR test must be carried out by a certified laboratory in the country of origin.
Travelers will still do a COVID-19 test on arrival at the airport in Cuba and must quarantine in a hotel until results are received.
Persons with bookings to Cuba were asked to contact the airline’s Reservations Sales and Service Centre.
Caribbean Airlines said it regretted any inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their understanding.
Last month the airline announced that workers who were scheduled to return to work this month would remain off the job until April 15.
