(CMR) Beginning in 2025, travelers from the US, Canada, Australia, and other nationalities who want to visit Brazil will need a visa.
The application includes travelers providing proof of income by either showing their last three checking or savings account statements or their previous six pay stubs, according to the Brazilian government’s website. Those who do not meet the threshold of $2,000 or more will need a sponsor.
The cost will be $80.90, but the visa will be valid for 10 years and across multiple entries, with stays limited to 90 days per year.
Processing times for the Brazil visa system will be an average of five working days although VFS – the company handling applications – “strongly recommends” applying two months ahead of travel.
According to CNN, Brazil saw nearly six million arrivals in 2023, with 483,000 US citizens visiting in the first nine months of the year alone. That puts US visitors second only to Argentinians.
