(CMR) Leader of the Opposition Roy McTaggart said he expects that an announcement will be forthcoming soon as to what action will be taken to address the deliberate and disquieting abuse of process, which led to McKeeva Bush being discharged in the Grand Court earlier this week.
Bush was on trial for two counts of indecent assault. However, based on information disclosed just this week by the prosecution, along with submissions from the prosecution and defense, Acting Justice Stanley John made the decision to stay the proceedings.
“As we have all learned, the judge found that the Office of the DPP and the police, in their determination to mount a case against MP McKeeva Bush, engaged in an abuse of process that threatened the integrity of the justice system. That is a very damning finding and one to which the Governor and the Judicial and Legal Services cannot simply turn a blind,” McTaggart said.
The Opposition leader said he would withhold further comment until he sees what actions will be taken by the Governor and The Judicial and Legal Services Commission (JLSC).
