(CMR) One man was arrested in a joint Police and Customs and Border Control operation where a pistol, a supply of ammunition, and a quantity of drugs believed to be cocaine were seized on Thursday, 15 February.
The RCIPS said officers worked with a partner agency, CBC, to execute a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a residential address in the vicinity of Mijall Road, Bodden Town.
On arriving at the location, the officers announced their presence, and the male occupant attempted to escape through a window. After his attempt failed, the door was breached by the officers, the man was detained, and a search was conducted of the residence.
This resulted in the recovery and seizure of the pistol, a supply of ammunition, a quantity of drugs believed to be cocaine and other illicit drugs, and a quantity of cash.
A 29-year-old man from George Town was arrested for the offenses of Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Supply and Damage to Government Property for the removal of an electronic monitoring tag.
The man remains in police custody as investigations continue.
