(CMR) A 29-year-old man from Bodden Town, who crashed into a police vehicle while trying to evade officers on Wednesday, 10 January, was arrested for possession of an illegal firearm and cocaine.
Reports from the RCIPS are that shortly after 3:50 p.m., officers had cause to stop a vehicle that was traveling along Pedro Castle Road. Officers signaled the driver to stop; however, he attempted to evade the officers and collided with a marked police vehicle. He proceeded to drive onto a nearby property, and officers observed him throw a bag from the vehicle, which they subsequently recovered and which contained a firearm.
The man was soon located and detained on a road off Pedro Castle Road. A search of his person and the vehicle was conducted, and a quantity of drugs was recovered.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ganja with intent to supply, and possession of cocaine with intent to supply. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
