(CMR) Police have recovered a Honda Civic, which was driven by a woman believed to be an accomplice of a man who stole money from the tip jar at a restaurant in West Bay on Tuesday, 2 January.
Reports from the RCIPS are that shortly after 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a theft at a restaurant on Boggy Sand Road in West Bay. It was reported that a man had taken a tip jar from the restaurant and walked off in the company of a woman.
A worker at the restaurant followed the man and confronted him. The man then took some cash from the jar, brandished a machete, and made off on foot, leaving the jar and the remainder of the money behind.
The woman who had been with him was seen leaving the location in a Honda Civic. Officers later located an unoccupied vehicle matching the description elsewhere in West Bay. It has been recovered by police as investigations continue.
The man is described as being about 5’8” in height, between 30 and 35 years old, of slim but muscular build, and brown complexion. His face was covered, and he was shirtless, wearing a black backpack and jeans shorts.
The woman is described as being of light complexion, of chubby build, with short dark hair, and was wearing a long black dress.
The matter is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the West Bay CID at 949-3999.
