(CMR) Police are investigating an incident that occurred early Sunday morning, 17 December, sometime before 1:45 AM, at the Seven Mile Public Beach, leaving one man seriously injured.
CMR understands the altercation started between a young man and a woman who share a child together when another man attacked him with a machete.
The RCIPS said it received reports of an altercation involving multiple people; however, the persons involved left the location prior to police arrival.
Later that morning, a man attended the Cayman Islands Hospital with lacerations & stab wounds that he had received during the earlier altercation. He remains in hospital being treated for what appear to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The matter is currently under investigation. Police are aware of social media circulations of this incident that identify a number of persons present at the location at the time. Police are working to locate these individuals and request anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 949-4222.
