(CMR) A sick cruise ship passenger was airlifted from the Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) early Saturday morning,18 November, after an emergency medical evacuation from the Carnival Conquest.
The Cayman Islands Coast Guard (CICG) reported that at 01:27 a.m. Saturday, it supported with the emergency medical evacuation (MEDIVAC) of a sick passenger from the cruise ship Carnival Conquest. The CICG said the transfer occurred approximately 2.3 miles from shore in what could be best described as rough conditions.
The patient was subsequently transported to the ORIA, where they were airlifted to the US by air ambulance, where they continue to receive medical treatment.
