(CMR) The Cayman Islands is currently the most sought-after destination by US travelers, according to Skyscanner, which examines user travel searches over a year.
The Cayman Islands emerged on top with a 483 percent increase in searches from the same period the year prior.
“It's clear that US travelers are craving island adventure, particularly the tropical climate and white sands of the Caribbean,” said the Skyscanner report.
According to Travel and Leisure, historical tours and sampling local food top the list of vacation activities, with a whopping 45 percent of users selecting the Cayman Islands based on its culinary offerings, along with attractions and weather.
With Cayman being an hour from Miami and with direct flights from several major US cities, location is also believed to be an important factor in Americans choosing it for travel.

The ranking then included two destinations in Japan — Osaka and Tokyo — before listing the US Virgin Islands, Bermuda, St. Maarten, and Oranjestad in Aruba.
