(CMR) Bianca Vega, a woman who allegedly rented a room in order to help wanted man George Orlando Senior evade police custody, is now behind bars.
Vega was arrested along with Senior on Wednesday during a police operation.
This is not the first time that a wanted fugitive has been found in the company of a female, which has highlighted the issue of females aiding criminals. Earlier this year, a 24-year-old woman from George Town was o arrested on suspicion of defeating the course of justice for assisting Marcus Manderson in evading the police.
Under the Police Act (2021 Revision), it is an offense to obstruct, mislead, or act in such a way as to prevent the apprehension of a person who has committed an offense. If prosecuted under this section, you may be liable on conviction to a fine of $ 5,000 or imprisonment for two years or both.
Persons harboring teens who run away can also be charged. Anyone who harbors or conceals a young person is guilty of an offense and is liable, on conviction, to being fined $2000 and to imprisonment for three months.
