UPDATE: The US Navy is also investigating petty officer Leoda Bradshaw who is accused of traveling to Jamaica to oversee a scheme to kill a woman and her 10-month-old child.
In a statement to NBC6, the Navy says it “…takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and is fully cooperating with appropriate investigative and law enforcement authorities. The matter is currently under investigation by Jamaican authorities and the Navy Criminal Investigative Service.”
(CMR) US Navy petty officer Leoda Bradshaw (34), who shares a child with Jamaican politician Phillip Paulwell, has been charged in the kidnapping and murder of Pauwell's 10-month-old daughter and the child's mother.
Toshyna Patterson (27), otherwise called Tosh, and her baby Sarayah were reported missing last month, with Paulwell expressing concerns that they could not be found.
On Friday, 6 October, the Jamaica police revealed that Bradshaw (34), who also shares a child with Paulwell, was among four people arrested. The four have since been charged and appeared in court on Friday, 13 October.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Fitz Bailey told the media that the quality of evidence amassed so far is sufficient to conclude that Bradshaw is a prime suspect.
“We have evidence that we could advance a case at this time, but we want to ensure that we cross every ‘t’ and dot every ‘i’,” DCP Bailey said following the arrest of Bradshaw.
Bradshaw has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to murder, two counts of conspiracy to kidnapping, and two counts of murder.
Before her arrest, Bradshaw denied having anything to do with the disappearance of the mother and child, telling local media she was made aware that her partner Paulwell shared a child with Patterson after a brief relationship. She said she was willing to support the child going forward following a DNA test to ensure the child was Paulwell's.
Bailey said the overwhelming evidence indicated that the child and mother were killed and their bodies burnt and disposed of. He described the investigation as one of the most painful in recent times.
Also charged are Rolon Lloyd (30), a graphic designer; Rushane Miller (29), an AC technician; and Richard Brown, also a graphic designer.
