(CMR) Minister of Border Control Dwayne Seymour has resigned from the PACT Government; he made the announcement in Parliament a short while ago. In a letter to Governor Jane Owen, Seymour said he resigns with immediate effect.
“I have searched my heart, and I am confident this is the right decision,” Seymour stated in the letter which he read in Parliament.
Seymour said, “Since being elected in 2009, never have I experienced such disorganization and lackluster leadership.”
Seymour said he crossed the floor in 2021 to assist the PACT Government and lend his experience to calm and assure the country.
He said, “The aristocratic manner in which the Premier leads his caucus leaves me much to be desired…It is his way or no way.”
He said the Premier has shown an inability to motivate the civil servants and an inability to keep the PACT members cohesive and focused. He said the Premier's inability to complete the 2024/2025 budget on time and show fairness to the caucus is untenable.
Seymour said despite his resignation, he remains committed and passionate about serving his country as a Member of Parliament.
He apologized to his constituents for not coming to them before making this decision.
“It's nothing personal; it's always about country for me,” he added.
