(CMR) Veteran seaman Brainard Watler, a man who supported the development of the Cayman Islands by serving on numerous boards, has died. He reportedly died early Sunday morning after suffering a heart attack.
Watler was also well-known for his knowledge of Cayman's history. He had artifacts from the Watler family’s long history in the Cayman Islands, including historical navigation equipment and a play written and presented to the Queen.
In 2021, he did an interview with Cayman Marl Road, speaking on the history of the Prospect Cemetery.
The former owner of Watler & Hislop Plumbing served on the boards of Water Authority Cayman and National Roads Authority.
