(CMR) Stanley Norman Scott, director of Scotts Equipment and cofounder of Scotts Marine, has died. He passed away on 13 July.
Stanley Scott and his brother Anthony Scott, originally from Cayman Brac, founded Scotts Industries in 1975 and later Scotts Marine.
The brothers started with one truck and a Ford backhoe, laying the foundations for what would eventually become one of the Cayman Islands Largest Heavy Equipment operations, Scotts Equipment Ltd. Scotts Industries Ltd. evolved into a retail and service business, selling construction equipment and parts, with distributorships and dealerships for several well-known brands such as New Holland, Briggs, and Stratton.
Then, in 1985 Scotts Industries acquired the dealership for Mercury Marine products and opened Scotts Marine Scene, a small but capable marine sales and service center, which evolved into Scotts Marine and now represents some of the most respected brands in the marine industry.
A funeral service will be held at the Cayman Islands Baptist Church, Pedro Castle Road, Savannah, on 30 July 2023 at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at the Garden of Reflections at Prospect Point Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation box will be at the church accepting donations for the Lions Club of Grand Cayman and Cayman Islands Seafarers Association.
