(CMR) A Cayman Airways employee was been arrested last Monday on suspicion of armed robbery in relation to the Burger King and McRuss Grocery store robberies. Jason McLean (28) (Spam), who currently works in the cargo operations department, is currently on bail as the investigations continue.
McLean’s unique walk may have been a key factor in numerous people identifying him to the authorities. He also drove a similar car to the one used in the robberies that occurred mere minutes apart on July 6. It is alleged that McLean and his accomplice became frustrated after not getting any money from an attempted robbery at Burger King on the waterfront before then robbing McRuss Grocery on Eastern Avenue a mere 6 minutes later.
CMR sources reveal that robbery would not have netted very much money. In August 2022, Jason and his family were featured in another publication claiming that they were struggling to make ends meet despite his wife’s job at the Health Services Authority. In a letter asking for assistance, they shared that they were finding it difficult to make ends meet.
While his distinctive walk was a dead giveaway for the father of three; his vehicle also caught the eye of many in the community. He now drives a brand-new Chevy SUV after obtaining a bank loan to purchase it. McLean is a newlywed who just married in January 2023. After his arrest, McLean started scrubbing his presence on social media.
