(CMR) Days after the police revealed they had opened an investigation into MP McKeeva Bush, he shared on a local talk show he intends to retire from politics.
Mr. Bush, who resigned as Speaker of the House following allegations of assault, said he does not intend to put himself forward as a representative in the next general election.
The police revealed this week that they have opened an investigation into an allegation of sexual assault against Mr. Bush.
“I have made a decision with my family; I am not running the next time, God willing,” he said on Wednesday afternoon.
“I am not going to be running; 40 years being elected is enough,” the West Bay West MP, who is one of the longest-serving MPs, added.
Mr. Bush has been involved in politics for over 50 years, winning 10 elections, but being directly involved in politics since 1972.
