(CMR) The Public Health Department is reporting that as of 8 a.m. Thursday, 28 October, there had been 1,845 PCR tests conducted since the last report on Wednesday, 27 October. This is a slight increase over the 126 cases reported for Wednesday.
Of these, there were 154 positive tests comprising one positive traveler and 153 positive tests from the community.
As of Friday, 29 October there have been 114,351 COVID-19 vaccinations given in total in the Cayman Islands. Of these, 56,488 (79% of 71,106) have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 54,311 (76%) have completed the two-dose course.
Additionally, 3,552 (representing 19% of those over the age of 50) have had a third or booster dose. Genomic sequencing has shown that a further 21 samples with higher viral loads are the Delta Variant of Concern.
The genomic sequences of all of the community cases to date appear to be closely related to that of the first community case observed in early September 2021.
CMR understands that new protocols will be released for persons having to quarantine. The next reporting date is Monday, 1 November. There will be a new reporting structure and timeline instituted after that date which the public will be advised of in due course.
