(CMR) A local woman in her 70s has preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19 after being initially admitted to the hospital after she fell ill at home. Sources indicate she has mild symptoms and is now in isolation.
The HSA has confirmed that she is showing symptoms associated with COVID-19. Conclusive confirmation of her status is expected early Thursday morning.
This has resulted in multiple family members, medical personnel and her helper being placed in isolation as Public Health carries out contact tracing.
Exclusive CMR sources shared that the woman was admitted to the hospital after collapsing at her home late Wednesday afternoon . First responders attended to her and transmitted to to the George Town hospital where she was admitted to the emergency room.
She had been having some ongoing health issues but the possible COVID diagnosis came as a surprise to everyone since she has no travel history and no one in her immediate contacts had travelled either.
Public Health immediately contacted a family member that visited her earlier in the afternoon and instructed them to remain at home because they had come in contact with someone at the hospital who may have tested positive. They were then visited by Public Health and are now isolated at home with their spouse awaiting further updates.
