(CMR) The rumor mill was on full alert today as members of the public informed CMR that there was a standoff situation at a local hotel this morning. It turns out the police were hosting tactical training for their officers. However, the rumor led to a local young man calling the government radio station to confirm that he was not involved in the standoff.
The police have issued a statement sharing that:
The RCIPS Firearms Response Unit carried out planned tactical training at a hotel located on West Bay Road today 19 March. As part of the training, there were areas both inside and outside that were utilized. The officers used non-functional weapons to conduct the physical aspects of the training and signs were put up at the resort to inform the public that the training was in progress.
