(CMR) A Jamaica Labour Party councilor has died after testing positive for COVID-19.
Derron Wood, the Local Government representative for the Fairy Hill Division in Portland Eastern, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the Kingston and St Andrew area, the Jamaica Observer reported.
The political representative also reportedly received his first dose of the COVID vaccine in recent days.
Wood is the second JLP councilor in the parish to have died after contracting COVID-19 after 61-year-old Councillor for the Fellowship Division Irvin Brown died in the Intensive Care Unit of a medical facility last October after testing positive for the coronavirus.
