(CMR) Jamaican police have arrested a suspect in with the murder of 59 year old Member of Parliament for Portland Eastern, Dr. Lynvale Bloomfield.
We understand the unnamed suspect is said to be around 25-years-old and that the police were able to close in on the suspect due to explicit sexual messages and voice notes between the parties. He was picked up in the Portland area around midday yesterday.
Online sources indicate the men may be heard describing sex acts they performed on each other. Both also may be heard referring to each other in affectionate terms such as sweetie and baby.
The young man is to due to be questioned shortly bu the authorities. In addition, to the phone evidence there were two condoms recovered at the scene along with other items which are being subjected to DNA tests. Police also have information suggesting that the young man often demanded money from Bloomfield since they met and engaged in intimate exchanges. On occasions Bloomfield's phone responded yes sweetie. Some voicenotes also contain arguments between the pair about each others alleged sexual activities with other interests. The last request from the suspect for money from Bloomfield led to a disagreement. That was a request for $40,000. Blackmail and jealousy appear to have been factors in Bloomfield being stabbed and killed.
Bloomfield's body was found at his Passley Gardens house on February 2 with some 20 stab wounds. Bloomfield is a two-term MP.
